Adaptive Control of Temperature for Heat Treatment Furnaces

The temperature control of heat treatment furnaces is a multivari-able stochastic system of which model parameters slowly vary with time.Ad-aptive control should be applied for getting better performence of heat trea-tment.The multi-variable self-tuning controller(STC)given by Koivo(1)hasthe disadvantage of eliminating offsets.In this paper an improved algorithm is pre-sented to deal with offsets.In order to avoid low reliability and poor flexibilityof the centralized control-system,a two-level distributed control-system wereused.Digital simulation and actual tests were carried out with the new algorithmThe results show that the improved algorithm can effectively be applied on STCof temperature of heat treatment furnaces by a single-chip microcomputerusing Intel 8031 as its central unit.
