Asynchronous Vibration of a Rotor Partially Filled with Liquid

From the Kollmann-Wolf's experiments we know that a rotorpartially filled with an inviscid,incompressible fluid may undergo a self-ex-cited unstable vibration above the critical speed.In this paper,the vibra-tional characteristics of the rotor outside the unstableregion is studied.Thenumerical results obtained by the asymptotic theory show that asynchronousvibration may also occur above the unstable region.The intensity of asyn-chronous vibration,which is greater than that of synchronous vibration,in-creases when the rotating speed goes up.The whirl frequency is a kind ofnatural frequency which is smaller than the rotating frequency.But the ratiois basically constant.The above conclusions were verified in the test andagreed extremely well with the experimental results.
