Method for the Analysis of Simultaneous Switching Noise on Power/Ground Planes in High-Speed MCM

A method was proposed to analyze simultaneous switching noise on the conductive planes in high speed MCM layout system, which is based on Partial Element Equivalent Circuit (PEEC) combined with block reduction algorithm PRIMA and time domain macromodel of the multi port network. The comparison with the result of the plane circuit analytic formula and the practical analysis of simultaneous switching noise on the power/ground planes in high speed MCM were conducted. It indicates that this method has the advantage of simple parameter extraction, high efficiency and high precision.
