Performance Analysis of a Novel Selection Combination Method in the Rician Fading Channel

Though the maximum output level (S+N) principle is often adopted in engineering, it was the maximum signal noise ratio (SNR) principle that is used in the theoretical analysis. Obviously, they are not equivalent. A closed form expression of the bit error rate of the system on the Rician fading channel was derived by using the maximum output level principle. The results were compared with that of the SNR system, which show a better performance of the S+N system.
