Passive Multi-Eye Localizing Method in Computer Assisted Surgery

The passive multi eye localizer is a multi ocular stereo vision system. It is based on the direct reconstruction of 3D scenes from multiviews under the projective geometry. The redundant information among the cameras and the feature points can be used to improve the accuracy and reliability of the local izer. The calibration process is easy to be implemented when the special feature points near the field of surgery are taken as the standard reference points to build the world coordinate system. The simulated data are coincident with the experiment results. The accuracy of this method is better than 1 mm in the volume of 1 mm 3. Such a localizing method makes computer assisted medical intervention perform accurately, easily and reliably. It can also be extended to the research of radiology, industrial machine, virtual reality technology and navigation system.
