The Single Machine Scheduling Problem with Fuzzy Processing Times and/or Fuzzy Due Dates

A kind of single machine scheduling problem with fuzzy processing times and/or fuzzy due dates was investigated. The object is to minimize the numbers of tardy jobs. In order to simplify computation, fuzzy processing times and fuzzy due dates are described by triangle fuzzy numbers. With introducing the necessity measure, this paper compared completion times of jobs with due dates to decide whether jobs are tardy in such three cases as ① only processing times are fuzzy numbers, ② only due dates are fuzzy numbers and ③ both fuzzy processing times and fuzzy due dates are present. Also, the deterministic counterpart of this single machine scheduling problem is a special case of fuzzy version.
