An Efficient Implementation of Genetic Algorithms

A powerful implementation of genetic algorithms is presented, which processes strings only by one third of the population size in every generation and performs select operator on fitter solutions and perishes weaker ones at the same time. So this implementation has high efficiency both in optimization results and in runtime. The implementation has already been used in a highlevel synthesis system of digital integrated circuits as a means of the optimization search mechanism for operation scheduling and function unit allocation. Kinds of examples with different size have proved that this implementataion is feasible and efficient.
