A STUDY ON THE INFLUENCE OF HIGH TEMPERATURE ON GROWTH OF COTTON BOLL AND IT'S DEFENSIVE MEASURES

During the flowering and boll setting period in cotton, artificial condition was controlled and ~(14)C isotope was used. The withered cotton seeds would be increased and the weight of cotton fiber would be decreased in cotton bolls of 5-day-age, when 33℃ high tempereture lasted more then 5 days. Thus weight of seed cotton was decreased by 15.7％. But it was less influenced by high tempereture for 10-day-aged cotton boll.Under the condition of high tempereture, irrigation or spurting water in cotton field promoted the transportation of ~(14)C products to growing cotton boll and could decrease the influence of high tempereture on boll growing. It could increase the seed cotton weight per boll by 7.9% over the check, and add 6.2% of bolls the plot experiment. Moreover, it also could be effector through apraying with the chemical of Chang Feng Ⅲ to prevent the influence of high tempereture.
