Sun Hua-yu;Zhang Wei-qing, (Edible Fungi Research Institute, Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences)
This article reported our researches on morphology, nucleus and chro- mosomes of Auicularia auricula, Hu-Ear-I with basidiospore, mycelium and basidia. The results now are represented in following four aspects. 1. The basidiospore was kidney in shape; Spores germinated in five ways; The first division of spore-nuclei might occur with in the germ tube. 2. The nuclei of hypha were mainly amitosis, but rarely mitosis; The nucleus of hypha generally was spherical or irregular in shape, eg. tadpole; The process of clamp connection was found in secondary mycelium. 3. From young basidia to one-nucleus basidia and to mature basidia, the size of basidia gradually became large; The nuclei of diploid were larger than those of ha- ploid. 4. The numbers of chromosome in nuclei of A. auricula was probably eight.
