THREE-LINE METHOD OF GENETIC MALE STERILITY FOR HYBRID SEED PRODUCTION IN Brassica napus L.

Three-line method of genetic male sterility is a new way for hybrid rapeseed production. Three lines are the homozygous two-type line, temporary maintainer line and restoring line. The method is as follows: Firstly, the full sterile line could be produced by test-crossing between the homozygous two-type line and temporary maintainer line. Then,the F1 hybrid seed could be produced by cross between the full sterile line and restoring line.The segregation ratio of fertile and sterile plants in homozygous two-type line is 1: 1 stably.The seed yield of homozygous two-type line for reproduction by sib-mating is about 580. 5 kg/hm2. The rate of sterile plants in full sterile line, maintained by temporary maintainer line, is about 99. 5% ̄100%. The yield of full sterile line seeds is about 414 ̄585kg/hm2.The rate of fertile plants in F1 combination, restored by restoring line is about 98%  ̄100%.The yield of F1 hybrid seeds produced by three-line method is 876kg/hm2. Now, some good F1 combinations have been got by variety performance test. The production demonstration area of F1 hybrid rape(6CA ×Chunqing) has been more than 10 000hm2 and has given already satisfactory results.
