The McAb 2H3 against the activated mouse T lymphocyte antigen was of the mouse IgG1 type. Experiments in vitro revealed that the McAb 2H3 showed an inhibitory effect in dose-dependent manner on; 1) the capacity of mouse T lymphoblasts and CTLL-2 cells to prolii'erate in response to IL-2. 2) the blastogenesis of T lymphocytes stimulated by ConA in early stage (in 12 hours). 3) the mixed lymphocyte reaction (MLR) in different strains of mice. These inhibitory characteristics of 2H3 are compatible with those of anti-IL-2R McAbs.
