Detection and Quantitation of IgH by Real-Time Quantitative PCR in the Peripheral Blood of Patients with Multiple Myeloma

To assess the detection of the minimal residual disease (MRD) in patients with multiple myeloma (MM) by means of the real time quantitative PCR,the IgH rearrangement in the peripheral blood was determined by this method in 26 patients with MM before and after treatment with thalidomide It was found that the numbers of copies of IgH rearranement in complete relapse and effective groups before and after treatment were 3 028±655,43±24 and 7 467±611,619±217 respectively,with significant difference between these two groups There was no significant difference before and after treatment in the ineffective group (6 153±1 527,6 575±1 227) It concludes that the real time quantitative PCR can be used to assess the the presence of MRD
