Development of Waterborne Automotive Coatings Modified by Nanosilicon Dioxide

A high performance nanosilicon dioxide modified waterborne polyurethane dispersion was prepared by the introduction of nanosilicon dioxide,as well as the hydrophilic monomer dimethylol butanoic acid with low melting point and high solubility,and the prepolymer dispersion process. The waterborne automotive coatings with the high hardness,low VOC content and good film comprehensive properties was prepared by the combination of waterborne polyurethane dispersion and waterborne acrylic dispersion. The various factors affecting the performance of coatings were discussed.
