INTERNAL DIFFUSIVITY DETERMINATION OF UNSTABLE ORGANIC SUBSTANCES IN IMMOBILIZED BIOCATALYST

In order to research engineering problems of reaction catalyzed by immobilized biocatalysts, the diffusivities of the reactant and product must be determined beforehand. Reactions catalyzed by biocatalysts often involve unstable substances. How to determine the diffusivity of unstable substance in biocatalyst has not been reported in literatures up to now. One-dimentional steady-state diffusion-decay equation was derived in this paper. Based on the equation, the diffusivities of a unstable sudstance, benzylpenicillin, 6-APA and PAA in the immobilized E. coli cells were determined experimentally.
