LIU Qun yi (School of Economics,Beijing University,Beijing,100871,China)
Seou gyeonmun, written by Yu Gil jun at the end of 19 th century, is the masterpiece of the author, and also the classic of the whole history of Korea as well. Joseon’s Silhak, Japan’s western thought and western modernization thought contributed to the book altogether and formed the bases of Government regulation, free market economy, merchandise’s ethos and mercantilism. Obviously, the book has played a significant role in the enlightenment period, symbolized the turn of Joseon’s thoughts and is still a good guidance to understand Korea’s ideology and economic history even in today.
