CHENG Ji-chun (School of History and Culture ,Qufu Normal University,Qufu ,Shandong,273165,China)
The Fate thought of Nuerhachi and Huangtaiji differed greatly. The core of the former is "heaven helps Houjin" , while the main idea of the latter is "Fate is capricious , and only morality can help " . Their Fate thought underwent an evolutionary process which is from "respecting heaven " to "trusting heaven" and then to "doubting heaven" .Finally it achieves the connection with the heaven outlook of Confucian school .Each change of their Fate thought is always interrelated to the content and operating forms of Houji's politics, and the evolution of their Fate thought always promotes or hinders the social development of Houjin and Daqing.
