Yu Yong-lin, et al. Department of Orthopedics, Huashan Hospital, Shanghai Medical University, Shanghai 200040
Laminectomy was performed in 1138 cases for different diseases. Among them 45 cases (3.95%) were complicated with cerebrospinal fluid leak which was treated with conservative methods. All the patients were cured after treatment such as drainage of cerebrospinal fluid, reverse Trendelenburg position in bed, early removal of drainage tube, suture of the leaking point and pressure dressing. The authors point out that the risk of meningitis will increase when cerebrospinal fluid leakage is complicated with infection. The prevention of cerebrospinal leak is discussed.
