36 cases of Hashimoto's thyroiditis were treated with moxibustion and the changes of T lymphocyte subsets and their effects on the secretory levels of anti-thyroid auto-antibodies by B lymphocytes were observed. The results showed that, after moxibustion treatment, the ratio of OKT 4~+/OKT 8~+ cells and the secretory level of thyroid antibodies declined remar- kably. It was also found that, there was a significant correlation between them, The author surmised from the results that moxibustion could treat the patient with Hashimoto's thyroi- ditis through the regulation of T lymphocyte subsets and therefore inhibiting B lymphocytes in producing thyroid antibodies.
