The Development and Water resources of Cities Ecosystem in Xinjiang

Li Xue Yu
This artical illustrates the dry and semi-dry climatical featuers in temperate zone of Xinjiang. The author has divided the oases of Xinjiang into four types according to the general morphological configuration of the earth's surface and correspondingly form four types of cities. 1 .oases in the vally and plain between the hillls and along the rivers : 2 .oases in the alluvial plain or on the edge of desert and dasin or along the rivers; 3.oases in the subterranean water and the spring overflown delt or near the lakes; 4.the new reclaimed oases on the basis of the manmade reserviors and depand on irrigation. He illustrates the characteristics of Xinjiang cities Ecosystem. the main strategical problem of the cities in dry and semidry regions is water resource, the quality of water is the basis and the quantity is the foundation of its development. They have the following characteristics: 1.The Prosperity and decline of the oases and cities depend on the water resources. The improper management and utilization of water are the main reasons of the decline of the oases and the destroy of the cities or towns; 2.The rate of the green cover depends on water resource on the southern edge of Zhungeer basin; 3.The areas of crops should be reduced in the spring overflown belt on the southern edge of Zhungeer basin because: first, the utilization of water is very big, second, the quality of water is Polluted by the chemical agriculture. The water circulation of the region decides the dynamic changing of the climatic factor, the rate of green cover and the agricultural economy of cities ecosystem. At last, the author puts forward several rationa ways for the mang-ement and utilization of water. He also Points out that the disappcrance of the onetime cities had already given us a warning, so we must plan and design the ecological cities according to the rules of ecology.
