Polar Format Algorithm for Bistatic Spotlight SAR

Bistatic spotlight SAR can achieve higher azimuth resolution compared with stripmap SAR,more attention is paid to the image formation algorithms.A bistatic polar format algorithm based on far-field assumption is presented.And a three-dimensional image geometry for bistatic spotlight SAR is introduced and the echo signal model is established.By processing dechirped raw data,the algorithm uses the squint mode coordinate and line-of-sight polar interpolation(LOSPI) to make full use of the data in space demain.The algorithm is suitable for side-look and squint spotlight SAR.Then,the limits on the imaged scene size and the effect of the residual video phase error are analyzed.Finally,compared with the PFA algorithm without Dechirp,the result shows that the algorithm reduces the data rate and computation burden,thus it is more efficient and reliable.
