Space Time Adaptive Processing for Airborne Bistatic Radar

Space time adaptive processing(STAP) has become a critical technique to be applied for airborne phased array radar.Researchers have given STAP considerable attention in the past several years.Complicated clutter characteristic, i.e.,clutter range-dependence,exists for airborne bistatic radar seriously,and the conventional statistical STAP methods cannot be applied to airborne bistatic radar.In this paper,the principles and characteristics of typical methods for solving clutter range-dependence of airborne bistatic radar are analyzed,then a general comparison and evaluation are given.Finally,the conclusion that Registration-Based Compensation(RBC) method has the potential to solve the problem of clutter range-dependence under range ambiguity conditions is obtained.
