Simulation of transfer function for seismic response of soil layers

DING Hai-ping, JIN Xing (Institute of Engineering Mechanics, China Seismological Bureau, Harbin 150080, China)  
In this paper, a method of one-layered model replacing multi-layered model to calculate soil transfer function is discussed. And the feasibility of the method is studied by earthquake records SMART-1 array. The results show that the soil transfer function of the simple model conforms to actual one very well as long as a suitable earthquake wave incident angle and damping ratio of soil are chosen. The method could be used to estimate soil transfer function for areas where soil exploration information is lacked.
