Spatial Distribution of Temples and the Influencing Factors in Mount Wutai

As a unique architectural form of Buddhism,the temple can be seen as an external expression of Buddhist culture as well as the living carrier of the Buddhist belief.Targeting at the Wutai Buddhist temples within the range of Taihuai area and to build tis spatial distribution database,this paper sets out to make an analysis of the spacial distribution features and its influential factors to establish a spacial distribution database with the assistance of the ArcGIS software.Thus the result suggests as follows:firstly,the spacial distribution of the Wutai Buddhist temples belongs to the agglomerate type,which forms centripetal distribution around the Taihuai town that is the only temple gathering center in the Taihuai area;secondly,the four main factors,which affect the space distribution of the Wutai Buddhist temples,consist of the main access roads and the pilgrimage roads of the region,Qingshui Rriver basin,the distribution of residential areas and the constructing histories of the temple.
