Modern Education Development in China's Shandong Province:Features and Implications

Modern educational system in Shandong Province initially follows the Soviet model which handles academic issues and the intelligentsia's thought reform through political criticism and ideological struggle while strengthening the Party's leadership,emphasizing political awareness and initiating the work-study program to usher in an educational system that matches the planned economy.After the adoption of reform and opening-up,Shandong Province,seizing the opportunity to adjust its educational structure to enhance secondary and higher vocational education,is now on the path to transform itself from 'a province of big educational scale' to 'a province strong in education'.Experience of the past decades gives implications to the Province's future educational development.
