Study on effects of dietary bacillus on antioxidant activities of spotted Babylon snail(Baylonia areolata)

The effects of dietary bacillus on antioxidant enzyme activities of spotted babylon snail(Babylonia areolata)were studied in this experiment.The spotted babylon snail in the control group and experimental groups were fed basal diet and an experimental diet(the basal diet supplemented with 0.5% Bacillus subtilis or 0.5% Bacillus licheniformis)for 60 d,respectively.The results showed that:the activity of peroxidase(POD) in hepatopancreas of the B.subtilis group significantly increased by 28.44%(P 0.05),while the superoxide dismutase(SOD) and catalase(CAT) were not significantly affected by B.subtilis supplementation.The activities of the SOD significantly decreased by 30.89% and the activity of CAT decreased by 70.33%(P 0.05),but the activity of POD was not affected by B.licheniformis.The results indicated that dietary B.subtilis could promote the non-specific immunity,while B.licheniformis could reduce the non-specific immunity of spotted babylon snail.
