Effects of alfalfa polysaccharides in feed on growth performance and carcass quality of finishing pigs

In order to study the effects of alfalfa polysaccharide on growth performance and carcass quality of finishing pigs,180 pigs of three yuan hybrid breeding pigs with similar weight were randomly divided into 3 groups,each group was repeated 3 repetitions,each repeate had 20 heads.The 1 group(control groups)was fed the basal diet.The 2 and 3 groups added 5% and 10% alfalfa polysaccharides on the basal diet,the preexperiment was 10 d,and the test period was 60 d.The results showed that:(1)The end weight and average daily weight gain of the 2 and 3 groups were increased by 4.2%,6.2%,14% and 14.9%(P 0.05) respectively,and the ratio of material weight of the 2 and 3 groups were reduced by 4.6% and 5%(P 0.05),the ratio of material weight of the 2 and 3 groups were lower than that of the control group respectively.(2)The slaughter rate and lean meat percentage of 2 and 3 groups were increased by 4.2%,4.0%,5.8% and 6.9%(P 0.05)respectively;The rate of carcass in the 2 and 3 groups were higher than that of the 1 group(P 0.05).In 2 and3 groups,the thickness of back fat and eye muscle area decreased by 7.8%,10.0%,8.9% and 8.7%,(P 0.05)respectively.(3)In 2 and 3 groups,the meat score,marble score,meat color,shear force and pH24 hwere not significantly different from those of the 1 group(P 0.05).In summary,10% alfalfa polysaccharides could improve the growth performance and carcass quality of finishing pigs.
