Role Ofhydrogen Sulfide on Inflammatory Immune Disorders in Cardiovascular Diseases

Hydrogen sulfide( H_2S),a colorless gaswith a characteristic rotten-egg odor,has traditionally been considered to be a toxic environmental pollutant. Recently,a multitude of works have demonstratedthat H_2S was identified as the thirdgaseous signaling moleculealongside nitric oxideand carbon monoxide. Similar to other gaseous signaling molecules,H_2S playeda pivotal role in the pathophysiological processes of cardiovascular disease due to its various biological activities,including anti-oxidative,antiapoptotic,proangiogenic,vasodilating capacities,modulating endothelial nitric oxide synthase activity,and so on. However,the mechanisms of H_2S underlying the process remained unclear. In the present review,we summarized the current knowledge on the regulatory effects of H_2S on disorders of immuneinflammation in cardiovascular disease and underlying molecular mechanisms. A better understanding of the biochemical function of H_2S mightprovide a new therapeutic strategy for cardiovascular diseases.
