Extraction and Antioxidant Activity of Total Flavonoids from Sedum Aizoon L.Stem

The alcohol was used as solvent to extract total flavonoids from Sedum Aizoon L, stem and antioxidant activity of it was also explored. The results showed that the yield of total flavonoids from stems of high calcium vegetables was(1.64 + 0.12)%. With VC and BHA as positive controls, the DPPH radical scavenging rate, superoxide anion radical scavenging rate and ABTS cation radical scavenging rate of total from Sedum Aizoon L. stem were positively correlated with their concentrations. When the concentration reached 40 μg/mL, the DPPH free radical scavenging rate was comparable to that of VC, and the clearance rate was 100%. With the increase of the concentration, the ABTS cation radical scavenging rate was significantly higher than that of VC. The clearance rate reached 74.16% when the concentration was 216.8 μg/mL. Therefore, flavonoids from Sedum Aizoon L. stem have higher antioxidant activities.
