Regional Contributions to Changes of China's Carbon Dioxide Emissions Intensity

ZHAO Cheng-bo;Department of Economy Management Huaiyin Institute of Technology;
To analysis changes of China's carbon dioxide emissions intensity contributed by its regional economies,this paper uses the complete decomposition model to analyze them from the provincial administration regions and the divisions of East Area,Middle Area and West Area respectively.It concludes that:1) There is an overall declining trend in China's carbon emissions intensity,dropping from 2.064 tons of carbon dioxide per million GDP in1997 to 1.556 tons of carbon dioxide per million GDP in 2009,with an annual average decrease of 2.74%.2) The areas which have the greatest positive effect on the decrease of China's carbon dioxide emissions intensity during 1997-2009 are Heilongjiang,Liaoning,Hebei,Hubei,Shanghai five provincial administration regions and the East Area;3) In order to reduce China's carbon emission intensity,China should give priorities in the governing on the three provinces of Heilongjiang Hebei,Hubei and the Eastern region.
