Diamond Nucleation under Vacuum Condition

In this paper,a discussion is given on the mechanism of diamond nucleation during carbon ions deposition under vacuum condition. We are of the opinion that the impact of high-speed carbon ions on an amorphous carbon film would produce localized high pressure and high temperature.It is this high pressure and high temperature that subject the amorphous carbon to a stable thermodynamic state of diamond in a small area.With these conditions satisfied,small diamonds are nucleated and reserved by rapid refrigeration.
