HLA-A,B Antigens:Distribution in Chaozhounese and Association with Some Diseases

Li Derui Zeng Qingyu Huang Shaobi Chen Weidong Xiao Zhengyu (Shantou University Medical College) Xu Jingcai Li Xuji (Chenhai County People's Hospital)
Sixty normal Chaozhounese without blood relationship were typed for 28 kinds of HLA-A and B antigens. The distribution of their HLA-A,B antigen frequencies, gene frequencies and likage disequilibrium haplotype frequencies were determined. The results show that the distribution feature of their HLA-A,B antigens is somewhat different from that in other Chinese populations. The A11 antigen frequency and two haplotype fre- quencies,i.e.A9,B60 and A2,B39,are higher in Chaozhounese. In addition, the assumed HLA association with several diseases includ- ing esophageal carcinoma, ankylosing spondylitis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and benign gonalgia were studied. It was found that only ankylosing spondylitis showed a strong association with B27. The theoretical and practical values of these results were discussed.
