Experimental Pharmacological Studies on Vitamin K

Besides being a coagulant,Vitamin K has other wide clini- cal applications.This paper reports some experimental studies on pharma- cological effects and mechanisms of Vitamin K.some of which have not been reported while others are being debated in literature.These experim- ents show that Vitamin K has various effects on smooth muscle,such as relaxing the bronchus,strengthening uterine contractility and dilating blood vcssels,etc.Thereby providing a pharmacological basis for its wide clininal appications. In addition,Vitamin K has been found to have antihemolytic action against saponin,never reported in medical literature so far.The result of this study provides a clue to further exploration of other new applications of vitamin K.
