EFFECTS OF ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS ON GROWTH AND REPRODUCTION OF PARANOPHRYS CARCINI SPIRALIS

The effects of food and environmental factors on the reproductive rate of Para nophrys carcini spiralis were studied in this paper. Shrimp gravy and peptone solution were used as culture medium for P. carcini spiralis. It was found that P. carcini spiralis multiplied in both media and grew well in peptone solution.Single factor experiments were used firstly to investigate the effects of temperature, salin ity, and pH value on the intrinsic rate of increase of P. carcini spiralis. It was found that P.carcini spiralis had maximum intrinsic rate of increase at a temperature of 25℃, salinity of 35 g. L-1, and PH value of 7.On the basis of single factor experiments, the central composite design was used. A re sponse surface analysis of the data indicated that the temperature and the salinity had signifi cant effects on the of P. carcini spiralis, but the PH value had no significant effect at the exper imental range(5-9). The model predicted that a maximum intrinsic rate of natural increase of P. carcini was spiralis 0. 2755/h at 22. 1℃, and 22. 4 g. L-1, the corresponding generation time was 2. 515 h.
