STUDY ON IMMUNOLOGICAL AFFINITY OF CHLOROPLASTS AND MITOCHONDRIA IN HIGHER PLANT

The rocket electrophoresis analysis showed that the immunological cross reaction was between antibody of soybean chloro-plast and soybean mitochondria and the same reaction between antibody of soybean mitochondria and soybean chloroplast, but between antibody of soybean mitochondria and rat liver mitochondria there was no immunological cross reaction. The immunological affinity of mitochondria to chloroplasts in higher plant was higher than that to animal mitochondria. It is possible the homology between the mitochondria and chloroplast in higher pla- nts is closer than that between the plant and animal mitochondria. The cross imm-unoelectrophoresis analysis and line rocket immunoeletrophoresis also showed that there is an immunological cross reaction between antibody of spinach CF1 and soybean mitochondria, and between antibody of soybean mitochondria and CF1. There-suits supported the view on the homology of chloroplast and mitochondria in higher plants. It suggested that the homology of them was caused by the same interior sub-stance——coupling factor.
