Progress of the studies on glutamine synthetase in higher plants

Glutamine synthetase(GS)is the key enzyme in the assimilation of ammonium in higer plants.In this paper,progress of the studies on glutamine synthetase(GS)and its isoforms in higher plants is reviewed.The distribution,properties,physiological functions and molecular biology of GS and its isoforms are introduced.
