The typical method for analyzing the ash contents in coal beds is: first to take the coal core from drilling hole,then to analyze it in laboratory.In order to overcome the errors caused by the low rate of sampling coal core and the pollution of the coal samples from the drilling rock powder,the coal quality in the well field can be quickly evaluated with the quantitative electrologging data for calculating the ash contents of coal beds.According to the correlations between the P value in the functional discriminant formula——P=0.015ρ_s-0.77γ——and the ash content A~g of coal beds(results of laboratory analysis),the writers estimated the ash contents of coal beds in the well field.There is a difference within 2% and 3% between the both methods for calculating the ash contents of coal beds and laboratory analysis of coal core.So,the former method is a new way to analyze the ash contents of the coal beds in the Fugu coal field in the northern Shaanxi.
