Numerical analysis of fin efficiency of continuous fin on flat tube banks

The heat transfer surface of flat tube banks with continuous fin is widely used in radiators and inter_cooler of diesel locomotives, but its fin efficiency is calculated with approximate method. Thus,some errors arise because of this method. To avoid errors, the fin efficiency is calculated numerically with differential methods. The fin efficiency curves are presented for both staged and serial flat tube fins in this paper. The effects of some parameters on fin efficiency are also discussed. The results are valuable for designing flat tube banks exchanger with continuous fin.
