Finite element analysis and optimization design of the automobile engine crankshaft

Taking the automobile engine crankshaft as the research objects,the study has made finite element analysis and optimization design. Firstly,parametric modeling was carried out by using CATIA software. Secondly,finite element analysis was made with ANSYS Workbench software. Finally,taking reducing the maximum strain and stress of the crankshaft as object,the crankshaft was optimized by using multi-objective optimization based on response surface in Design Exploration. The results show that the maximum deformation of the crankshaft has reduced by 7. 18% and the maximum stress has decreased by 27. 04% through the finite element analysis and the optimization design. Therefore,the static stiffness and strength of the crankshaft were enhanced to some extent after optimization,and the reliability of the crankshaft structure was improved.
