Preparation of Micro-Mesoporous ZSM-5 Modified by Na_2CO_3 and Its Catalytic Performance for Sulfur Etherification

HZSM-5 zeolites were alkaline-treated with various concentrations of Na2CO3 solution.The samples before and after Na2CO3 treatment,HZSM-5and HZSM-5(c)were characterized by XRD,XRF,SEM,N2 adsorption-desorption and NH3-TPD techniques.The Ni-Mo/HZSM-5 and Ni-Mo/HZSM-5(c)catalysts were prepared and used for sulfur etherification.The influence of Na2CO3 solution concentration on catalytic performance of Ni-Mo/HZSM-5(c)in sulfur etherification was investigated in a small-scale fixed bed reactor with model compounds as feedstock.The results showed that the micropore-mesopore hierarchical pore structure was formed in HZSM-5(c)by Na2CO3 treatment,which increased the total surface area and mesoporous volume and modulated its acidity,while maintained the microporous structure.The sulfur etherification catalytic activity and selectivity of Ni-Mo/HZSM-5(c)were improved due to Na2CO3 treatment.The Ni-Mo/HZSM-5(4.0)obtained by treatment of 4.0mol/L Na2CO3 showed better catalytic activity,with mercaptan conversion of 95.60% and isopentane diene to mercaptan selectivity of 73.10%.
