A compensation method in quadrature phase detection of directional blood flow information

Quadrature phase method is one of the important methods in directional blood flow information detection using Doppler ultrasound techniques. There exists the imbalance of amplitude and phase between the pair of quadrature signals, which leads to the crosstalk between the forward and reverse blood flow information. This effect may bring errors in mean frequency and maximum frequency estimation and sonogram displaying. Using the compensation method described in this paper, a pair of quadrature signals with balance between the amplitude and phase was obtained by letting the quadrature signal pass through a designed linear filter with certain characteristics, which may improve the performance of directional blood flow detection of Doppler ultrasound system.
