Translationally-controlled tumor protein(TCTP) is a highly conserved protein which is ubiquitously distributed among eukaryotes. Its function spans numerous biological processes such as cell proliferation and differentiation regulation, cytoskeletal regulation, apoptosis inhibition, tumor reversal and immune responses. This paper gives a brief overview of the research developments in the structure, distribution and functions of TCTP at home and abroad.
