Exploration of implemental strategies for protecting adolescent eyesight in Sichuan Province

Objective To present and implement the suited fundamental strategies and methods for protecting adolescent eyesight in Sichuan for the sake of application of VISION 2020.Methods With founded primary network of preventing blindness, the epidemiological investigations were applied in several counties whose preventing blindness work were advanced and plan bases that were to be set up. The network for protecting eyesight would be established primarily. The teen-ages with ametropia would receive medical optometry, opticianry and amblyopia therapy as well as visual health education.Results The network for protecting adolescent eyesight had been set up primarily and the related strategies have been putting in practice step by step. As the result,the incidence of low vision and blindness caused by ametropia and amblyopia has been reduced. Conclusion It is helpful to avoid blindness and achieve "VISION 2020" for the fundamental strategies and methods for protecting adolescent eyesight in Sichuan.
