Abrasion resistance test of friction pairs on subsurface pumps

Fu Luchang(Shengli Oil Production Plant, Shengli Oilfield Company, Dongying City, Shandong Province), Lan Yaowu, Zhang Zhihua, et al.  
The abrasion resistance of the barrel and plunger influences directly the life of the subsurface pump. Proper selection of the material and surface treatment technology of this friction pairs can improve the life of the pump operating in high-water-cut wells. Abrasion resistance of 9 friction pairs of various materials with treating technologies was tested, and the result shows that, the carbon steel spray weld plunger and the chrome plated carbon steel barrel pairs is the best in abrasion resistance, and the pairs of nitrided 38CrMoAl plunger and chrome plated carbon steel barrel is the second best.
