GUO Shi-rong;LI Shi-jun;CHENG Fei;MA Na-na (Department of Horticulture, Najing Agricultural University, Nanjing 210095)
An experiment on cherry tomato and calabash gourd soilless culture was conducted with reed sediment substrates a waste material from paper mill, adding several kinds of solid materials and fertilizers. The results indicated that the plants on the tested substrates grew healthier and had shorter growing period. Compared with the rockwood culture, the yield was increased by over 10%, and the quality was significantly improved. Moreover, the cost are dramatically decreased as using reed sediment substrate that had no pollution to the environment as substrates.
