Prediction and Analysis of Candidate Effectors from the Genome of Setosphaeria turcica

Corn northern leaf blight is a worldwide corn disease that causes severe corn yield loss. Setosphaeri taurcica caused necrotic lesions on leaves, affected the quality of corn and caused serious economic losses. Effectors played an important role in the interaction between plant pathogens and hosts. According to the genome information strain Et28A of Setosphaeria turcica,candidate effectors were predicted from 11698 proteins in genome of Setosphaeria turcica using the bio-software and programs including Signal P,Prot Comp,TMHMM,big-PI Fungal Predictor and TargetP. And then, a further screening based on the cysteine content、 the signal peptide length and the redundancy of predicted proteins was carried out. Finally, 60 candidate effectors of Setosphaeria turcica were predicted, and most of them were the hypothetical proteins with unknown function. In this study,candidate effectors of Setosphaeria turcica prediction using bioinformatics methods, laid the foundation for the further studies of the role of effectors in the interaction of pathogen and host, and provided references for the prediction and analysis of other plant pathogens effectors.
