Objective To search for the influence of dosage and directions of interferon (IFN)on the therapeutic effects of respiratory syncytial. virus (RSV) Pneumonia in infants. Methods The 48 cases of RSV pneumonia were randomly divided into 4 groups, A. B. C and D.There were 12 cases in each group. The basic therapeutic methods were same for every group, the large dosage of α-IFN[5×104IU/(kg·d)], im, for group A, small dosage of α-IFN[2×104IU/(kg· d)], im,for group B, small dosage of α-IFN, im, and small dosage of r-IFN (3×103 IU each time), spray inhalation for group, C, small dosage of r-IFN, spray inhalation for group D.Results The time of abatement of fever in group D is shorter than that in group, A, group B and group C (p0.01)., the time of the other symptoms disappearance (such as cough, dyspnea, wheeze, dry and moist rale) in group A is same to group C, group B is same to group D, but it of group A and group C is obviously shortet than that of group B and group D.Conclusions The therapeutic effects of RSV Pneumonia .treating by INF have a close relation with the dosage and directions of INF. The therapeutic effect of small dosage IFN is worse. Small dosage α- IFN im combining with small dosage of r-IFN, spray inhalation is the best therapeutic method of RSV pneumonia.
