Studies on immune function of vitamin D deficiency rachitis

Objectives To research the changes of humoral and cellular immune function in the child patients with vitamin D deficiency rachitis and to observe the effect on the immune function of the child patients treated by vitamin D3.Methods There were 25 child patients(16 males and 9 females) with vitamin D deficiency rachitis.The 28 healthy children (18 males and 10 females) were regarded as control group. The serum IgG,IgAand IgM were determined by immune turbidimetric method, The T-lymphocyte subpopulations were determined by monoclonal antibody method. The infants with rachitis were treated by vitamin D3, 300×103U intramuscular injection, just once, The above-mentioned targets were determined again after 3months of treatment.Results The levels of IgG of infants with rachitis and healthy infants are 6.78 ±1.60 and 8.60 ±1.90g/L (P0.01), IgA: 0.75±0.43 and 0.98±0.52 g/L (P0.05), IgM: 1.82±0.82 and 1.43±0.43 g/L(p0.05), the levels of CD3 of them are 48.21±8.45% and 62.19±6.10% (P0.01), CD4: 31.48±6.20% and 40.02±6.93% (P0.01), CD8: 26.13±5.30% and 30.75±5.72% (P0.01). The values of CD4/CD8 of them are 1.37 ±0.31 and 1.68±0.42 respectively (P0.01). After treated by vitamin D3, the levels of IgG, IgA and IgM haven't obviously change (P0.05), CD8 and CD4 /CD8 levels are increased (P0.05) and the levels of CD3 and CD4 are increased obviously (P0.01) in infants with rachitis.Conclusion Both the humoral and cellular immune functions in the child patients with vitamin Ddefi cienty rachitis are lower than that in healthy children. After 3 months treated by vitamin D3, the cellular immune functions recover in different degree, but the humoral immune functions haven' t obviously recover in the child patients with vitamin D deficiency rachitis.
