Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction for detection of coxsackievirus B in 298 clinically samples

Objectives Molecular biology measurement was used to detect the existence of coxsackievirus B(CBV)in specimen and in estigate its relationship with clincal diseases.Methods The 298 patients of being regarded as CBV infection were detected bt reverse transciption polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) with specific oligonucleoticle primers,Results The results showed that 127 cases (42.6%) were positive cud the infection was relevant toage,and more visible in summer and autumn. On the other hand, only 5 of 80 healthy children in control group were positive (6.25%). The 17 of 20 positive samples (with RT-OCR ) detected by ELISA were positive.Conclusions RT-PCR assay is a rapid, sensitive and specific method for the detection of CBV. Theresults shawed that CBV can infest many kinds of organs and result in various clinical diseases. It has strong infectivity.
