Effects of Sports Communities on Promoting College Students Sports and Exercise Behaviors:Based on Social Ecology Model

The aim of this study was to test the effect of sports communities on exercise promotion and analyzes its mechanism from the perspective of social ecology model.Members of Mountain Eagle and basketball were selected as subjects,and students who are not members of any such communities were taken as comparison group.Results showed that sports communities had positive effects to promote sport and exercise behaviors and improve health.Members of some sport community showed higher scores in physical condition tests and much more time spending on sport and exercise activities.Based on social ecology model,the findings suggest that the effective factors include community support and the influence of peers,which can work directly on the individual inclination.And certain community regulations can also promote its members sport and exercise behaviors.This exercise promotion effect was much stronger in the communities with highly organization level,physical fitness demanding activities,specialized techniques and exercise knowledge.
