On Status of Food Safety Monitoring and Administration System Reform and its Countermeasure in China

Objective To assess the current status of food safety monitoring and administration system reform in China and to explore its countermeasures.Method The leading problems in food safety supervision and inspection in China were explored and analyzed as compared with the developed countries.ResultThe imperfect food safety laws and regulations, inadequate food safety monitoring networks,outdated technical supports,insufficient scientific verification to the food safety standards,and ambiguous definitions in strategy development were the contradictions which lay ahead of us.Conclusions The author proposes the approaches to improve the strategy of China's food safety monitoring systems,clarifies the necessity of reforms in control mechanism of food safety enforcement,and provides some suggestions to resolve the major issues in food safety monitoring and administration systems.
